Photos from Eastern Haunters Convention

Got back yesterday from the first ever Eastern Haunters Convention which was held in the Philadelphia area this weekend. Check out all of the pictures for the spooktastic fun here.

New Logos, Web Sites and More!

Things have been pretty busy here at Grendel's Den Design Studio. The convention season is well on its way (look to the right under APPEARANCES for dates), new book covers designed, new sites built and new CD media designs. Here's an overview:

Zombie Monkey Projects - The site has been totally overhauled into a weblog that covers all sorts of creepy, freaky and generally odd things for folks like you and I. This change was due to the fact that ZMP was no longer organizing events on a regular basis. So instead of trashing the entire thing it was given a makeover. You can visit the PORTFOLIO page to view the new logo.

Philly Frights - Philly Frights is an upcoming project that will be a resource site covering all things horror, haunt and generally spooky in Philadelphia and its surrounding region, which is sorely needed. A launch-date has not been set but I can say that it will be this year. You can visit the PORTFOLIO page to view the new logo.

Dancing Ferret Discs - There are some new CD designs that were created for Dancing Ferret Discs:
  • Rewind by Sunshine Blind is a two disc release with reissues of the albums Liquid & Love the Sky to Death

  • Mo-Do's Eins, Zwei, Polizei is a limited edition (1000 copies) collector's EP that brings Mo-Do's best-known tracks to an American audience for the first time.

  • Information Society remastered and will be releasing Don't Be Afraid v.1.3, which also includes two bonus tracks.
Orgy of Souls - The hardback edition will be available later this year. It will be signed (tip-in sheet bound with book) and limited to only 350 copies, half of which are in line for me to sign and the other half is ready to go... as you can see from the picture below.

Orgy of Souls Tip Sheets

Orgy of Souls

I just uploaded the cover design for the upcoming book Orgy of Souls (by Maurice Broaddus and Wrath James White) into the Gallery. The book is available for order at Apex Publishing and is available in hardcover and trade paperback. Only 350 copies of the hardcover will be produced, each signed by the authors and myself as well as numbered 1-350.

Here's a one of the reviews:

"ORGY OF SOULS is a gripping tale of two brothers whose lives have taken radically different paths — but those paths intersect via some surprising twists and turns. With raw prose, vividly drawn characters, and a chilling touch of the occult, Broaddus and White draw you in and belt you right in your emotional gut."

--Stephen Mark Rainey, author of BLUE DEVIL ISLAND and THE LEBO COVEN

M is for Monster

Just uploaded a new piece - M IS FOR MONSTER. You can view the entire piece to the right.

ABOUT PHILLY ZOMBIE CRAWL
What began as a vision from Philly bartender extraordinaire Melissa Torre to celebrate the world's most ultimate zombie (Jesus H-Friggin’ Christ) on Easter Sunday, has developed into a larger crawl event once we stumbled upon the Minneapolis Zombie Pub Crawl.

Initially the creators of Philly Zombie Crawl (Torre, Dave Ghoul and Robert Drake) were going to have a simple celebration at Tattooed Mom, a neighborhood watering hole located on South Street in Philadelphia. But upon learning about the Minneapolis Zombie Pub Crawl, visions of zombies danced in their heads!

Seems the love of the undead thrived in Minneapolis and some time ago they held one of the first Zombie Bar Crawl events in America! As exciting as that is ... the reality is that Philly is known as The City of Firsts! We have zombies that go back to the Revolutionary period!

So, it seemed fitting to produce a Philly Zombie Crawl, but in the spirit of the city, we became the first in the world to host it and honor the world's most awesome zombie on His big day ... Easter Sunday!!

In 2006, over one hundred and twenty zombies gathered at Tattooed Mom to start off the official Crawl. Prior to the crawl, make-up artists from Eastern State Penitentiary were on hand to help people get their zombie face on! The night was a perfect celebration the love of zombies and liquid libation!

Since our first Crawl in 2006 zombie gatherings have exploded across America and worldwide and on Easter Sunday '07 we had close to 300 zombies roam South Street in celebration of the undead! Easter 2008 brought another amazing mass of undead flesh - you can check out our photo gallery by visiting Philly Zombie Crawl!
Fondest Industry Memory
My years involved with the Barn Playhouse Haunted Theater from the '80s to the '90s, almost 13 years. Hands down one of the best haunts ever on the East Coast. Folks still talk about it today even though it's been gone for well over a decade.

Pictures from Eastern Haunters Convention

I was vending this past weekend at the first ever Eastern Haunters Convention, which was held in the Philly area (Frazer to be exact). I had a blast to say the least. Friday was a bus tour which took us to Eastern State Penitentiary, the Mutter Museum, and the Fright Factory, plus a catered lunch and dinner. Saturday and Sunday were the actual convention days which included seminars, a cat… Continue
