HauntUniverse.com - The Haunt Industry Network

Ok, I will start, Why do I do what I do in the Haunt industry..
Easy... I like attention.. I love art and Effects, mix those and you get me. I love makeup (monster stuff not the beauty kind) and being able to transform yourself into something that people can't tell if it is real or not. (which always baffles me, I can't recall ever meeting a real zombie)
So Why do you do what you do in the haunt industry?

Sick, sadistic satisfaction.

Really, I like being scared, and want to share the joy. I think most customers that come to haunts like to be scared (except the ones that spit on you or otherwise attack the actors, they're just morons). I think fear is a part of the human psyche that is not really tapped into anymore in this relatively safe world. Most of us aren't in situations where our survival is threatened, we're not hunting our food or trying not to be hunted as food, and so we create these worlds to indulge the fear in a healthy manner. Also, for those who would otherwise be out skinning cats, they can play with things that look like skinned cats and scare people with it, and have a better outlet for what would otherwise be deviant behavior. I'm no psychologist, it's just my two cents. Probably not the answer you were looking for, huh?

No, that is just about right... the part of us that really wants to be scared... knowing we are in a safe enviorment always allows us to let our guard down some.. but doing what we do... all falls into knowing what we would like to see.. and if we want to see what ever it is that we love to scare people with happen.. it is all worth it.. if that made any sence at all

I think you're answer is pretty honest and not unusual. I've heard so many actors say that if they didn't haunt, they probably would have killed someone by now. Haunting does allow you to exhibit the dark sides of your personality without harming others.
